Doctemplate utility

Tool snapshotMany developers have found the process of developing templates for Web-aware and 3270-bridged applications is time-consuming because:

  • Newly developed templates must be defined and installed using CEDA—a CICS program that few developers can access.
  • Even the smallest change to a template requires a newcopy of the template definition (doctemplate). Newcopy is typically handled through CEMT—another program Web developers can't access.

Without access, Web developers must interrupt system personnel every time they change a template.

WebTek resolves these problems and speeds the Web-enablement process by providing the Doctemplate utility as part of the WebTek Developer Kit (WDK). With the Doctemplate utility, developers can develop independently, which saves everyone time.

Don't worry about security

Of course there are important security reasons for limiting access to CEDA and CEMT. You don't want just anyone accessing these powerful system tools.

That's why the Doctemplate utility is limited to managing only templates. This means Web developers can manage their templates independently but cannot access other functionality reserved for systems personnel.
